You don’t need to worry about pushing any buttons as the Orion Induction Heater senses when the VapCap is inserted. To operate the battery powered induction heater, just insert the DynaVap VapCap into the chamber until you see the orange light blinking and listen for the click to indicate that it’s heated (or count the blinks if you are zoned out). In just four to six seconds your material will be heated to perfection and you’ll be ready for luxurious, tasty vapor. An automatic shutoff feature limits heating to a maximum of 10 seconds at a time.
The included zippered case also fits not only your Orion but also the USB-C charging cable, the included SnapStash, and has room to safely store your DynaVap VapCaps.

Differences Between DynaTec Orion v1 and Orion v2:
- DynaVap DynaTec V2 requires a 3 second safety calibration after turning the Orion on. During this 3 second safety calibration, a VapCap should not be inserted. The calibration will not complete until the Orion has been turned on with an empty chamber for 3 seconds.
- Orion V1 has pass through charging. The V2 Orion will not work while charging to prevent unnecessary wear and tear on the battery.
- Clicks per charge have decreased on the V2. In an effort to improve the lifespan of the battery, we have updated the threshold for when the blue low-battery indicator turns on as well as when the device will shut off. On average, with a fully charged battery you should expect to see about 25 clicks until the LED indicator changes to blue and about 40 total clicks until the device shuts off. This will vary depending on your particular usage, as well as how long the battery has been left on the charger.
- Updated enclosure to help prevent cracking or chipping
- Improved button construction to prevent damage
- Upgraded battery circuit to improve reliability and protection
- Thermal protection has been added to prevent damage caused from abusive use and overheating. If the Orion gets too hot, it will shut down and require a cool down period and can then be turned back on. If thermal protection is activated, please wait for the device to cool down, then plug it into the charger to restart.
- Heating profile has been tuned to be slightly less aggressive. This allows for better heating with Ti tips by reducing the likelihood of combustion. It still works great on SS tips.
Visual Differences Between Orion v1 and Orion v2:
- V1 will have the text “DYNATEC.io” written all the way across the side of the heater. V2 will have “DYNATEC.io” smaller and located in the lower right 2/3s of the side of the heater.

I’d describe it as the upgrade you buy when you want the DynaVap ritual to feel faster, cleaner, and more consistent. Instead of rotating a cap over a flame, you simply insert your DynaVap with the Cap on, wait for the click, and then draw. Moreover, the Orion’s automatic sensing makes the session feel very simple because the heater activates when the VapCap is inserted.
How do you use the DynaTec Orion Induction Heater V1?
First, turn the Orion on by pressing the power button three times quickly. Next, insert your DynaVap tip with the Cap installed into the heating chamber without forcing it. Once inserted, the Orion heats the cap automatically; then, remove the DynaVap when you hear the familiar DynaVap click. In real use, I like this style because it removes most of the guesswork from torch heating. However, you should still respect the click and avoid overheating, because the click is your main temperature cue.
How long does the DynaVap Orion V1 battery last per charge?
The DynaTec Orion V1 is commonly listed with a 1000 mAh rechargeable battery and up to about 50 heat-ups per charge on average. Therefore, it is much more travel-friendly than a desktop-only induction heater. In practical terms, I’d see it as a strong choice for daily DynaVap users who want portable, flame-free heating. However, battery life always depends on how long you heat past the click, how often you leave the unit on, and how much charge the battery already has.
Can the DynaTec Orion V1 be used while charging?
Yes, one of the important differences with the Orion V1 vs V2 is pass-through charging, meaning the V1 can work while charging. This is useful if you forget to charge it before a session. However, I’d still avoid treating pass-through use as the default every time, because rechargeable batteries generally last longer when they are charged and discharged normally. In addition, the ideal charging setup is a 5V USB power supply, with many Orion instructions recommending a 5V / 2A power source like the 2.1A USB Wall Charger For Full Performance.

- Dynatec has created something special here. There is no need to press down on the vaporizer while heating. The Intelligent Activation technology will automatically heat the vape when it is inserted. You just plop it into the heater and let it do all of the work.
- To turn the Orion on just click the single button on the Orion quickly 3 times in a row. The DynaVap Cap logo on the top of the Orion will turn green to show the Orion is on.
- Insert the VapCap and the logo will turn orange and start blinking.
- You will know the VapCap is heated when it clicks.
- When you hear the click, it’s time to remove the VapCap from the Orion and enjoy your vape! As soon as you are done using it, place it on the magnet and wait for the cool down click. It’s then ready to be reheated.
- There is an automatic shut off timer, and when it is activated the logo will turn red and the heater will shut off. This helps prevent the VapCap from being permanently damaged, but you may still combust if you heat the VapCap too far past the click.
- Each VapCap is slightly different. As they age, the timing with the click will change. We recommend stopping at the click, but for a denser vapor just go 1-2 seconds past the click on most VapCaps. If you go too far after the click, you will combust.
- Always make sure to let the DynaVap click again before reheating. Waiting for the cool down clicks ensures you won’t immediately combust and / or damage the clicker.
- We recommend cleaning out your VapCap in between sessions. This reduces staining of the oven, and will make deep cleanings easier.
- A green light means the Orion is on and ready to be activated. If the device has a blue logo instead of green, this means it is low on battery. We notice that it tends to happen with about 30% battery capacity remaining. We recommend charging the Orion if you see the light turn blue with a USB-C charger.
- If the logo is red, this means you have reached the auto shut off on the Orion heater. Simply remove the VapCap from the heater in order to restore normal function.
- The battery is dead if the DynaTec logo does not light up at all. Simply charge the device using the USB-C charger and you should be good to use it in a few minutes. We always recommend doing a full charge unless you’re going to put it into storage. If you are going to store it, store it with about 70% battery life left.
- Optional and not included: A USB-A power supply with 5V – 2A for wall socket charging.
